I read about your posting regarding your ancestor.  When the british did not win the revolutionary war, the loyalists were generally considered criminals and faced court action if they stayed in U.S.   One option was return to england (or Canada, etc.).

Something else the loyalists did was to marry a native person and live on tribal land..., to be away from U.S. justice.  This was the case of one of my "Barnard" relatives who married Euchee woman and lived out remainder of his life on tribal land.  There are on line lists of loyalists, but I do not have available now.

Interesting reading.

There is quite a bit of the Weatherford genealogy in Dr. Greg Waselkov's
book, A Conquering Spirit:Fort Mims and the Redstick War of 1813-1814, which
is available at the University of Alabama Press site.

I just feel much better when I feel like the documentation is there  instead
of reading several family trees and wondering if I connect so this one  is
listed at ancestry.com and sorta makes it all real   :)  I  found several others
that might help and will send next.....
