we have is that the name of Brooks was originally spelled Brooke -- and first settled in or about 1620 in Conn. Lord Brooke from which the name came. My Father's Great Grandfather was born about the year 1700 or 1710 -- was killed in the French and Indian War in Canada in 1758 while holding office as Captain -- being wounded his men not being able to rescue him from the Indians but saw him fire on them when they were within a few feet of him. He was found next day, his body mangled as none but Indians can do.

To him was born Levi Brooks about 1757. He was in the Revolutionary War -- At Bunkerhill when but 20 or 21 years of age. He married Lydia Buck about
