Margaret Zimmerly's last name is spelled "Cimerly" vice Zimmerly on her marriage certificate to William Ameter on page 55 in the Book on Early Marriages of Richland County Illinois, by Lola B. Taylor. In the obituary for her brother, Philip Zimmerly, her name is listed a "Homiter" vice Ameter.

Margaret's brother Henry died in 1855 and his wife, Irena, died in 1893. Margaret became the legal guardian for two of their children. The children were Cora and Jefferson Earl Zimmerly.
