--She died after an illness of seven months.  -  Deceased was born in Newport, Indiana, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson.  She leaves a husband and five grown children; William, of Lake Side, La.; John of this city; Mrs. Rev. Singley, wife of the Lutheran minister of Bellefontaine; Mrs James Douglas, of Columbus and Laura Houch who lives at home.

In 1850 Virlinda, aged 24, is living with her widowed mother in Rushvile, Schuyler Co., IL.  William Houck is listed as a "brickmaker" living with Virlinda's brother, Charles Johnson, in the next household.

 

A photo of "Aunt Linda Houck" was found in a photo album belonging to Grace Shepard, granddaughter of Eliza Johnson Shepard.    On back of photo is written Aunti Hoak Springfied Ohio 312 S. Lime Stone St.  The biography on the husband of Linda Houck, William H. Houck, states that his wife's parents were John Johnson and Elizabeth.   See biography on page of William H. Houck.
