Sarah's father, Elijah W. In 1848, at the time of her marriage, Sarah would have been just shy of 21. She is living with John Harper, who in the 1850 census for Louisville, is listed as a "Cardwainer" which is a shoemaker, born in Germany in 1810. In 1850, her parents were in White Co., TN, her sister Emily in Lake Co, OH. In 1850 she is living with her husband, Jacob Powers, in Louisville with their young son, and her brother, George E. Bronson, the deaf mute, is living with them. Sarah Bronson was a 4th cousin to Amos Bronson Alcott, the father of Louisa May Alcott.
