William Sandeman of Luncarty was the son of David Sandeman 3.1 and Margaret Ramsay. He was b. 10 November 1722. He married twice, the first marriage being to Christina Fleming on 24 Jan 1743 . There were two children of this marriage (5.12 and 5.13 Gen p.15) William then married Mary Anderson, and had a further 11 children (5.14 to 5.24 Gen pp.17-24). Mary died on 2 Feb 1790. John Sandeman was the eighth child of Patrick Sandeman (1763-1836) 5.10 and Isabella Davidson, Patrick’s first wife (Gen p.12). Elizabeth Watt, his wife, was the eighth child of Robert Watt and Jane Peat (Gen p.6, 7). Jane Peat’s mother was Isabella, née Sandeman 5.7, and her father was Thomas Peat, a merchant, of Perth. John Sandeman and Elizabeth Watt had thirteen children (7.20 to 7.32 Gen pp.12-13).

The fact that the Peat/Sandeman genealogy gives different spellings for the name Morison/Morrison is shown here to be a likely error, in that, while Jane, the mother has a double ‘r.’ Alexander’s name is spelt with a single ‘r.’ The same spelling, that of the singlr ‘r,’ appears in the name of Jane Morison Wighton, granddaughter of William and Jane Sandeman (Gen p.22) and so, too, with two daughters of William Sandeman 6.46, both named Jane Morison Sandeman 7.87, 7.89, and their son, Alexander Morison Sandeman 7.90, two children of Robert Sandeman 6.48, etc. - See below. Jessie was the sixth child of the marriage of John Peat and Margaret Elizabeth Locke. John Peat, Margaret’s great -grandfather, was Thomas Peat, merchant, of Perth, whose wife, Margaret’s great- grandmother, was Isabella Sandeman 5.7.
