 Sandeman News Updates

* 22nd March, 2004- Updated the Walker Genealogy page to include Terence Walker's descendants, my marriage, Scott McLeod Walker's descendants, and a number of other updates, mostly sourced from "Glenlyon Connections". Added Walker Family Reunion link to main page and Walker Genealogy page. Created an Earliest Walker Genealogy page, adding a few extra generations of ancestry. Updated internal links on my Genealogy page.

* 3rd October, 2002- First attempts to add a search engine to my website. Wish me luck! When installed, you should be able to enter names in the input box, and search through all my webpages. Look out for a link on the main sandemansrc.htm page, and the genealogy.htm page. Note that I've now added a link to an external website for my husband's Johnson family- see my main genealogy page. E-mail contact details are being intermittently replaced with more spam-resistant graphics.

* 12th June, 2001- A major revamp of the Sandeman Surname Resource Centre. Backgrounds changed, metadata tags with date information added, and a major reworking of the "Sandeman Scrapbook" pages to a more accessible and browsable format. Ninth generation individuals added to the Descent Index and Alphabetical Index of the 1895 Sandeman Genealogy. A sample transciption in a webpage format of the first two pages of the 1950 Sandeman Genealogy is now online. There are now approximately 43 webpages in my Sandeman Surname Resource Centre. I now have a Sandeman GEDCOM available for distribution to genuine family members who will use it for non-profit purposes only. However, some checking and modifications need to be done before I can share it. Note that this GEDCOM will not appear on this website at any stage, as many family members have concerns about privacy of information.

* 11th December, 2000- Another person added to the Researcher Index, interested in the Jewish Sandemans. I get quite a few e-mails, but not a lot of confirmations of interest in being added to this list. I'm in contact with a Sandeman researcher who is contacting a relative of Gerard Lionel Sandeman for me, to get permission to reproduce the Sandeman Genealogy (1950 ed.) in its entirety on my website. Creation of the www.sandemanfamily.com website is underway, and George Sandeman is seeking interested genealogists to look after branches of the family tree on his website. Please e-mail me if you might be interested in administering a branch of the tree, and I'll pass on his (private) e-mail address to you.

* 16th September, 2000- Descent index to the Sandeman Genealogy by Glen Ralph updated (vastly improved formatting), alphabetical index created. LDS search information split off from the Sandeman Genealogy page, and given its own page. Glen Ralph's snail mail address added to researcher information page. Use of "new" icons to indicate updates to webpages initiated in the Sandeman section, with icons placed next to links. Link updated and typo corrected on Frederick m. Isobel page.

* 27th June, 2000- Genealogical and biographical information on Sandemans and a picture added to "Other Sandeman Resources" section, and some genealogical records to the "Sandeman Family Trees & Gedcoms" page (all from Wilmar Library), in draft form.

* 9th June, 2000- Family tree of Frederick Sandeman and Isobel Ogston added to "Sandeman Family Trees & Gedcoms" page. Preparatory formatting of genealogical information provided by Glen Ralph of Wilmar Library continues.

* 12th April, 2000- I have recently heard that Gerard Lionel Sandeman, editor of "The Sandeman Genealogy" (1950) reportedly died a couple of years ago. No source confirmation as yet.

* 12th April, 2000- George Sandeman, current owner of "The House of Sandeman" (wine & port business), and administrator of www.sandeman.com, has registered the domain name www.sandemanfamily.com, and intends creation of a website there to gather Sandeman researchers.

* 12th April, 2000- Main Sandeman SRC page redesigned, more researchers added to index, some other Sandeman SRC pages updated, "Sandeman News Updates" and "Origins of the Sandeman Surname" pages created.
