Married: Jane Cloos (12May1852-15Sep1943) on 10May1881. Daughter of Newberry (d. 16Jan1880 at age 66 yrs. 27 days) and Synthia (Church) Cloos (d. 23Jan1875 at age 55 yrs. 8 mo. 22 days) of Middlebury Tp., Tioga Co., PA. Jane had two sisters: Ester Cloos (d. 25Oct1862 at age 14 yrs. 9 mo.) and Sophia Cloos (d. 26Nov1862 at age 13 yrs. 3 mo. 21 days) and a brother: Dr. Luther N. Cloos (d. 17Dec1912 at age 53 yrs. 7 mo.), He was married to: Cora L. Cloos (1864-1932). There were possibly two other sisters who died young, Julia and Wilma.
Chauncey K. was in the lumbering and teaming business until the Civil War when he enlisted. He was wounded at Antietam and discharged on 28Jul1864. In 1875, he purchased a farm near Keeneyville, Tioga Co. where he resided until his death.

Chauncey King Palmer, second son of Ruben T. Palmer, and grandson of Abram Palmer, was born in Granville, Bradford County, PA, 12Dec1840. He was reared in Middlebury Tp., obtained a common school education, and when eighteen years old went into the lumber woods as a teamster. He was later employed as a farm hand until the breaking out of the war. xxApr1861, he enlisted in Company H, Sixth Pennsylvania V.R.C., under Capt. Jxxx Sherwood, and participated in the following battles: Ball's Bluff, Drainsville, Seven Days Fight before Richmond, South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Second Bull Run, and Gettysburg. He was wounded at Antietam, and was finally discharged at Washington, D.C., 28Jun1864. Returning home he was unable to work for two years because of sickness contacted in the army. In May 18XX he purchased a farm of 115 acres, northeast of Keeneyville, on which he resided until his death, 30Nov1896. Mr. Palmer married 10May1881 to Jane Cloos, a daughter of Newberry Cloos, Jr., of Middlebury Tp., and had one son, Harry N. Politically he was a Republican, and in religion, a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. He was also a member of Alfred Toles Post, G. A. R., and of Middlebury Grange, and was highly respected by the community in which the greater portion of his life was spent.
