"My mother was born and named Rella Miriam Low in Burlington, Iowa, August 7, 1884. She came to Grinnel College as Miriam Low, was an excellent student, and graduated 1907, Phi Beta Kappa.
"She went directly to the University of Chicago to study Greek, 1907-1908, and to meet (for the first time) John M. Bridgham. She taught at De Pauw University, 1908-09, and returned to teach at Grinnell, 1909-1910. She and Dad were married June 18, 1910. Her first 'home' was in Ripon, Wisconsin, then in Madison. On to Seattle, Washington, 1912-13, back to LaCrosse, Wisconsin from 1913 to 1918. Next on to Mt. Vernon, Iowa from 1918 to 1926."
From her obituary:
"Mrs. Bridgham was a member of the Congregational church in Grinnell, the Tuesday Club, the Historical and Literary Club, and the Grinnell Museum Society of which she was recording secretary."
