Joseph Bridgham is incorrectly listed as "Joseph Bridgam" in the Maine 1850 census.
Excerpted from "Genealogical History of Maine" by George Thomas Little:
"Joseph was captain in the war of 1812, and as all his friends and neighbors called him colonel, it is probable he had that rank in the Maine Militia; in 1834 he was a member of the state legislature, and was for many years postmaster at West Charleston, Maine. He was prominent in all the affairs of this town, and when he died his funeral was attended by nearly all its residents, many in carriages, but the majority of the men walking by twos, and the procession reached nearly half a mile."

The 1820 Maine census lists 2 boys under 10, a woman between 16 and 26, and a man between 26 and 45.
The 1830 census lists 1 boy and 1 girl under 5, 2 boys between 10 and 15, boy between 15 and 20, a woman between 30 and 40, and a man between 40 and 50. The 15- to 20-year-old boy may be a brother or brother-in-law.
The 1840 census lists 1 girl under 5 (probably Hannah), 1 girl and 1 boy between 5 and 10 (probably Zebulon and Mary), 1 boy between 10 and 15 (probably Joseph), 1 girl between 15 and 20 (probably Margaret), 2 men between 20 and 30 (possibly Wilmot and Albert), and a man and woman between 40 and 50 (probably Joseph and Margaret).
