The Wheeldon Family

Moses WHEELDON & Jane JOHNSON Moses from Moneyash married Jane around 1850, they had a number of children, but only census records have so far been found relating to the family. Moses was a coal miner for most of his working life, although at the age of 68 he was working as a farm labourer. Search is continuing for church records but so far only the baptism of the eldest son has been found, at that time Jane was living with her parents in Creswell and William was baptised at his mother's parish church in Elmton.

Children of Moses & Jane

William WHEELDON Eldest son of Moses and Jane was born in Creswell and baptised in Elmton. The family are still being researched, but we do know quite a lot from census records. William, like his mother, moved from Creswell to Eckington and married Sarah around 1870, in the 1891 census he is shown with a different wife Ann, so it can be assumed that Sarah died sometime in the preceding 10 years. William was a Coal Miner.

Walter WHEELDON According to census records Walter was born in Eckington in 1856 and after he was married to Mary the family including two children remained in Eckington, Walter was also a Coal Miner.

Frederick WHEELDON was born in Eckington in 1858 also a Coal Miner he remained there with his family of five children and wife Sarah A.

Mary S. WHEELDON was born about 1861 in Eckington and was living at home with her parents during the 1871 census, what happened to her after this time is not known.

Reuben WHEELDON was born in Eckington in 1865 also a Coal Miner he married wife Gertrude from Eckington and was living there during the 1891 census.
