Brennan Family History

James Brennan Arrived in Zanesville from Ireland around 1850.

The best evidence I have indicates my Brennans may have been from Kilkenny

James Brennan was born in Ireland circa 1832. I believe his parents names were Brigid and Patrick. I know of three siblings and there could have been more. I am not sure if the parents came to America but I don't believe they did since all the children didn't come over at the same time.

James Brennan served in the Union Navy during the Civil War.

He belonged to a veterans group named Herrick Blue. Herrick Blue was the name of a Zanesville area resident who was killed in the Civil War.
A story about the large number of men from Putnam area of Zanesville, appeared in the Zanesville Signal , Feb. 1, 1945. A quote from the story,
Putnam in the Old Days: "James Brennan, a dead ringer for Santa Claus and just as jolly, a true Irishman and a railroad man."
