Hello, this is a first trial with our new guestbook. Why would we need one? Not sure - but anytime you would like to send in a comment or to suggest any improvements - here's the place to do so. So please, don't make me beg. Drop us a line ;-)

Hi, Tilman, your site looks pretty comprehensive to me! The only thing that I think I would like to see (because it's so difficult to search a "million" different web sites!) is a section for "roll call" only, where the BRANDL researchers could list the names (and dates and places) of the BRANDLS they are related to and/or looking for more information on. There would also have to be a way for us to contact each other through that section, though, in case we have or think we have a match. Or is that one of the purposes of the guestbook? Regards, Miriam P.S. Could you put on your note for submitting that we need to press our browser's BACK-key in order to edit our message? Thanks!

Oops, I apologize for the double post; I have never posted to one of these guest books before, and had no idea it was that simple. How do we edit out post without first submitting it? Regards, confused Miriam!

Hi Miriam, thanks for your input! I'm pondering about a special place for roll-calls. For the time being though, I tend to keep those postings with the message board at http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/board/rw/surnames.Brandl/. There the name entries are indexed thus searchable, and also, our board is still a low volume place. Posting general queries here instead of to the board wouldn't improve things ;-/ As to editing - this can't be done at present due to the limitations of our (freepages) server, and AFAIK is also impossible with most other guestbooks I've seen. True, pressing the BACK key brings you back to the form, but your message has already been sent off with clicking SUBMIT or pressing the ENTER key. Sorry. Contacting each other: Simply provide your name + email address, and your message will start with a clickable email-link, like the one you posted here. Regards, Tilman

Tilman, I just looked at the new "hints for searching Austrian connections" at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~brandlsurname/, and I had a brainwave. I went to the LDS Family History Library Catalog (at http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp), and did a "place search" for "Styria" -- the library does have a nice selection of information from the Steiermark region of Austria, and I think some of it may help my search. It's a good place to try for those who have brick walls.

Good evening, tonight is the first time I have accessed your web-site. It was passed on to me today. I am at present researching our family history, and I am sure that I will be able to use some of your links. Thank you, Sharon

Could you please tell me if Brendel, Brandel, Brandl,Brandle and other spellings are all from the same family? My ancestors used all spellings and they were Germans who migrated to Ukraine/Russia. Thanks.
