Clay Cross "Board School" (later Tupton Hall Grammar) class photo circa 1917
A very small & faded "IV" was penned onto the bottom left corner of the photo, possibly by the photographer... a class number?
How old were they in Form 4?

Back row, second from left: John William (aka Bill) PARKER (1904-1984) [mar 1934 Violet POLLARD (1911-2005)
Middle row, fourth from right: Ann (aka Nancy) HUDSON (1905-1992) [mar 1931 Alfred BRAILSFORD]

Front row, teacher middle/right: I believe this to be the Principal? a Mr Hollister
He is dressed in academic gown, and was pictured in another class photo I have sighted, which
I believe to have been taken of another class in the same year.

John William (aka Bill) PARKER (1904-1984) [mar 1934 Violet POLLARD (1911-2005)
Thank you to Glynn PARKER for the following information

Bill, as he was known locally, was born in Chesterfield on 30th June, 1904, and lived at 423 Holly House, Chatsworth Rd, Brampton, DBY. Bill lived at that address until his marriage to Violet POLLARD in February 1934 and then they moved to Mayfield Rd, Brampton, where he lived until his death on 7 Jul 1984. Violet lived at the same address until her death on 17 Sep 2005 aged 94.

Of particular interest to BRAILSFORD researchers.... Violet had a sister, Ruth POLLARD, who married Edwin (aka Edward) BRAILSFORD. Ruth and Edward lived at The Three Horse Shoes public house at Stanedge around the late 1940's until about 1960. They had eight children, some still living. One of the daughters emigrated to Australia, circa early 1950's.

Ann (aka Nancy) HUDSON (1905-1992) [mar 1931 Alfred BRAILSFORD]
