bullet  General Notes:

When Joseph came to Canada he joined the Royal North West Mounted Police in 1887 in Manitoba. He Acquired 640 Acres of land not far from Brandon Manitoba. Once the children arrive the family moved to Vancouver BC. While there he joined the British Forces and fought in the Boer War. He re-applied in the army this time in the 1st World War and was seriously wounded at Vimy Ridge. Prior to coming to Canada from Ireland they lived near Bray at a place called Tonneygara and raised Holly for a living. It was reported third hand that the property they lived on was awarded to the family by Cromwell for fighting on the side of the Protestants in the Round Head Rebellion. It is suggested that they were from English military stock.

At the time of Joseph's attestation in 1916 he was 6'1" with Chest girth of 40" had blue eyes dark brown hair and fresh complexion

Joseph married Isabella COOKE, daughter of Samuel COOK and Elizabeth [--?--], on Apr 1, 1891. (Isabella COOKE was born in Nov 1872 in Peterborough County, Ontario, Canada and died on Nov 1, 1956 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.)
