Douglas attended the Saylor School when he was a boy. He went west and Settled in Tama Co., Iowa where he was a farmer.

1912...Douglas lived at Princeton, Mo., where he was a building contractor. Oct 20th of that year Mr. and Mrs. Henry Franke visited them there.

1920, June 12th
Minnie (Frisbey) Pyles & Frances (Frisbey) Franke visited their Uncle Douglas and his daughter Minnie Hadley and families at Grinnell, Ia. Douglas & Mollie separated. Douglas lived with his daughter Minnie until her death.

1928...Douglas came to the home of his sister Elizabeth Frisbey in Clay twp., LaGrange Co., In. "to die" as he had said. Elizabeth was 10 years older and had taken most of the care of him when he was a little boy. There was a deep love and family tie between them. He was ill for some time and she and her family took care of him in his last days, and he died at her home.

He belonged to the Order of Modern Woodmen and was a member of the Methodist Church. He visited his sister, Carrinda Coger at the farm near Sherman, Mi.
