The Bolles of Chislehurst were a branch of The Bowles of Bromley (1500's) who had built their fortune as the exclusive supplier of tents and pavilions to England's rulers since Queen Elizabeth I.  The story of this family is told on my Bowles of Bromley page and in E. A. Webbe's  A History of Chislehurst (pages 225-229) which left me very little more to add.
