My Bowles ancestors have been traced directly back to the little village of Ballickmoyler in the Slievemargy region of county Laois, Ireland.

Note: County Laois was called Queen's County when the Bowles lived there but was renamed county Laois following the creation of the Republic of Ireland in 1922.  You will see both references on these pages.

See The Bowles of Ballickmoyler, co. Laois for information on my direct line.

There was also an Alexander Boles and family from Fingreagh, co. Leitrim which settled for a time at Abbeyleix.
See Alexander Boles of Abbeyleix, co. Laois

At present there do not seem to be any Boles/Bowles living in co. Laois.
