Thomas Boles was born in co. Sligo,
Ireland and came to Canada with his parents in 1834. They settled first in
Clarke twp., Durham co. where he married and raised a family.
They moved to Stanley twp. in 1852 where he obtained a deed to homestead at
Lot 17 Bayfield Road South, Varna. He split it
by his will (dated 1867) to his sons John and Thomas . John sold his 99 acres
in 1876 and Thomas sold his 36 acres in 1890 (p. 336 Homestead list)
