The Muster Roll and Pay List for the Volunteers which server in the Simcoe County Militia during the Rebellion of 1837 includes a John Bowles who served as a Private from Dec. 6 to Dec. 18, 1837.  He is in the pay list for Medonte twp. where he served in the 1st Regiment under Capt. Boyde.
