Bowles in Victoria county

Robert Bowles left Quebec City with his family shortly after their daughter Jenny's baptism in December 1854. See The Robert Bowles Family of Quebec City. However they are next on record only in the 1861 Census at Fenelon Falls in Victoria county. By this time there is another daughter, Isabella, born in 1858 in Ontario but we haven't yet found a record for that birth. We don't know whether they moved from Quebec City directly to Victoria county or if they lived someplace else in between for a few years. One possible place in between would have been the Irish settlement at Bytown (now Ottawa) where George's brother William lived from 1846 to 1851 and where his brother John's family is believed to have settled from about 1851 to about 1858.
