Bowles in Valcartier

The John Bowles family of Ireland emigrated to Canada in May 1826. One source says that they originated in Springhill, Tipperary but moved to The Commons in the Slievardagh Hills of Tipperary prior to their emigration to Canada. If correct that would connect them to the Bowles of Peel co., Ontario who also emigrated to Canada at the same time from the same small region. The only problem with that is that John Bowles of Valcartier, Quebec married in a Catholic church near The Commons while the Bowles of Peel co., Ontario were Protestant Irish who in fact signed an anti-Catholic petition just prior to their emigration to Canada. Hopefully more research in Ireland sources will help fill in this story further some day.
