James and Ellen Bowles came from
Ireland in 1854 and settled first in Montreal (about 1854 to 1858),
then moved on to Perth, Drummond twp., Lanark co. (about 1859 to
1875) and then finally to Toronto. See

1870's and then returned to Canada in 1877 and settled in Toronto.

Their son William joined them in 1884 and soon married and raised a family. Son Edward followed with his wife Hannah and 7 children in 1887 and also settled in Toronto where another child was born in 1888. Son Thomas and wife Fanny were probably the last members of the family to arrive in 1890, also settling in Toronto and raising a large family.
