Melancthon township

Several Boles/Bowles families lived in Melancthon twp. Any connection between Matthew Boles and Robert Boles is not yet known but both families were from Ireland.

Matthew Boles²³⁶ with wife Susan and their family moved from South Sherbrooke twp., Lanark county to Melancthon township before 1861. Matthew died in 1865 but at least two sons, Richard and Johnston, also settled here. See Matthew Boles of Sherbrooke for more on this family.
