Emma Watson
February 19, 2006 Anne Aren (annenyc2@aol.com)

Looking for information on my grandmother, whose maiden name was Ethel L. Emma Watson, born in Glenville, Jackson County, North Carolina, daughter of Unknown Watson and Elmira [maiden name unknown].

Reply: Normally, I'm not able to help anyone out this quickly (if at all), but today, I was up at the Macon County Public Library in Franklin, NC and found a book of Delayed Births from Jackson Co., NC. I found the following:

Watson, Ethel Lou Emma born 29 Apr 1907 Glenville female white
Father: William Henry Watson born 1874 Jackson Co., NC
Mother: Hix Elmira Taylor born 1880 Jackson Co., NC

I knew right away that this is your grandmother. If you want to find the original record, it's in Delayed Births Book 4 on p. 13, if I'm reading this correctly. While I was there, I also looked up the marriage record for Emma's parents in the book Marriage Bonds of Haywood and Jackson Counties, NC by James E. & Vivian Woolley (copyright 1978, reprinted 1998 by Southern Historical Press, Inc.). On p. 144, I found:

Watson, Wm. H. 23 [years old] Taylor, Hix 16 [years old] 26 Aug 1897 J. N. Bumgarner JP
     At Martha Taylor's
     [Witnesses] J. A. Stewart, J. B. Bumgarner, W. J. Henderson

M. A. Watson
Sept. 13, 2003 Carolyn (Rwer2@aol.com)

I am looking for M. A. Watson, m. Henry A. Lester July 1889 Blountsville, Blount Co Alabama. Daughter Theodocia May (b 17 Oct 1890) Geno's death certif. says M. A. was born in Tallapoosa Ga. 1910 US census puts M. A.'s bdate at 1858. Theodocia is my grandmother.

Saw your 1860 Georgia census posting for Rabun Co, Moccasin Ga http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~booleygirl/watson/census/1860ga.html#rabu

Could this Minerva A. Watson be my M. A. Watson? On a later census she uses the first name "Minnie" - for Minerva? Does "Moccasin" still exist?

Robert Watson
Sept. 27, 2003 Cindy Thurmond (cindy518@bellsouth.net)

I am looking for a Robert Watson that married Samantha Sanford or Stanford. I have no dates for Robert, but, Samantha was b. 4/10/1872 and d. 1/10/1951 and is buried in New Morgan Hill Cemetery, Enka NC.

Several years ago I was given some information on this family. My great grandmother Annie Watson Cope was Robert and Samantha's daughter. The info made sense on their descendants, but, when it came to ancestors it was just names that I couldn't make sense of the connections. Names included: Adam Watson (1764-1842), Moses Watson (1787), Elias Watson (1801) and Issac (no date). There is other info on these gentlemen, such as spouses and children, but, I can not get them connected to Robert.

Whoever did this must have thought that Robert Watson was apart of this "Adam Watson" family but I can't figure it out from the info given to me. I e-mailed you because I saw your family tree at RootsWeb.

If there is any help that you can give me on this I would truly appreciate it, because I just can't figure it out. Thank you so much for your time.

Unknown Watson
June 11, 2003 Unknown (Mhm1894@wmconnect.com)

I have been researching a Watson family without much luck. I need the name of a man who died in Civil War leaving a wife (don't have her name). The children John, Dave and Charles Berry Watson. Not sure but think Charles was born between 1850 and 1860. Charles and his children went to TN after his wife died, this was before 1900 census. I dont have a co. in NC just know it wasnt far from Asheville. My mother was Charles daughter Ella Bell born in 1894. Do you have a suggestion that will help me?
