Amos Curtis

On a recent trip to the Georgia State Archives, I made two important breakthroughs on this family. First, in the 1867 Voter Registration Record for Rabun Co., GA, Amos gave his place of birth as Burke Co., NC, thus giving a place to start looking for his family. Secondly, on the 1842 Poor School Record for Rabun Co., GA was a list of Amos and Naoma's children. Two of the children were gone from the household by 1850, making this the only record of their names. I'm still looking for the third unknown child (if, indeed, there was one), but have revised the family group sheet to include estimates of age and order of birth. I am still working on this family, although not as much as I would like. Updates will follow as soon as they are available.

Al Field, a Curtis researcher, is trying to connect this Amos Curtis with the Curtis families of Burke and Randolph Cos., NC, which later migrated to Western NC and Northeast GA, namely to Caleb Curtis (1758 - ca 1825), a possible son of Samuel Curtis (1720 - 1775). Many thanks to him for sharing his research and DNA data.

Below is a timeline showing the events of the life of Amos Curtis; check back for updates. Please note that the birth order of Amos and Naoma's children could be wrong; the assigned places of John and the unknown son could possibly need to be switched.
