Portrait of the Daniel Lewis House

Daniel Lewis was a wealthy landowner. He built the house about 1845.

It is believed that General John Morgan stopped by the house during his raid through southern Indiana in 1863.

An additional comment.. Tanya Johnson nee Bonstein's great great grandfather on her maternal side, fought with General John Morgan. He was with Morgan during his raid. I guess this was the first meeting of the Bonstein/Lewis side meeting the Payne/Johnson side.. small world.
