Peter and John RITTER died in their boyhood days and were buried on the hill overlooking Skeggs Creek, just below the famous Joe GLOVER mill. Jemima RITTER married a man by the name of REEVES and settled on South Fork Creek some three or four miles from Glasgow. They raised several children; their parents died long ago and the children are still living in the same vicinity where they were born. Susan RITTER married twice; the first time to one by the name of MITCHELL and to them were born two sons: Marcellus, better known perhaps as Brud, and James C. MITCHELL. They have both long since been dead. She married the second time Nehemiah MEADOR near Roseville, Ky. To them were born three daughters: Savillah Jane, Haydie and Amanda, all of whom are still living, but the old people have long since passed to their reward. Elijah RITTER married Easter BELL and to them were born six sons and two daughters: the most of whom are dead. Some of their grandchildren live near the MATTHEWS old Mill. Martha RITTER married Elisha WHITE; who migrated to Missouri long ago; just when I cannot say but they settled in St. Francis County and raised a large family; some of whom are still living there or was a few years ago. David B RITTER Jr was three times married. His first wife was a JOBE; to them was born one son, Henry, who died in early childhood. His second wife was a Miss STRINGFIELD; she lived but a short time after their marriage. His third wife was Mary KINCHELOE, a daughter of George and Amanda KINCHELOE. To them were born four children: Sally A. RITTER, wife of B L SMITH; Fishburn RITTER and Amanda E RITTER, wife of E B KINCHELOE and George K RITTER, all of whom are living at this writing. D B RITTER Jr began life as a tanner when they made leather by the old process at Nobob. From there he moved to the famous RITTER Mill on Skeggs Creek which was known as the HUFFMAN Mill; which he had purchased from his father, D B RITTER Sen. That was in 1856; there he lived and labored until he died in April 1877 from the effects of an accident on the Branch Rail Road leading from Glasgow to Glasgow Junction. NOTE BY SANDI: This would be the RITTER mentioned in the newspaper tidbits recently. Elizabeth RITTER married Wesley CALVERT of the Barren River country near Fountain Run, where she lived and reared a family of five children, two boys, one of whom died just as he came to manhood. The other is still living and is an Ex-Judge of Allen County, Ky. Three girls all of whom are still living and have families and live in the same community in which they were born. Jacob RITTER married Mary HOGAN; to them were both three sons and three daughters. The sons were W H RITTER, J H and J D RITTER. W H RITTER is and has been a mill man; J H RITTER is a stockman and a veterinarian; so also is J D RITTER. The girls are Anthony RITTER [so shown], wife of G H WILBORN of Nobob; Quintella RITTER, wife of John CHAPMAN of Nobob and Alice RITTER who married Georg WILSON. They migrated to Oklahoma where she lived a number of years and died. Pauline RITTER was twice married. The first time to a man by the name of CUNNINGHAM; to them were born two children. She, having been left a widow by the death of her husband, married Sam GILLOCK, a brother of the famous preacher, W G W GILLOCK. To this union was born one son. So times moves on in its course, and with it the generations pass. One has fled and another is dead, and of the third and fourth and fifth some are gone. To be continued next week.
