Gillock
The Village ***********
Gillock, Scotland is situated in the Highlands. It sits just west of Wick, in the northeastern part of Scotland you will find it by putting Corsback, Highland and using GB Place names in the search box at the top left of the page. For map scale use 200,000 or below. When at 4, 000,000 you will see the upper most part of the Island of England, and the Orkneys. At 500,00 it will show you Wick, and its airport with some of the roadways. It is
interesting that the highlands is where the purest group of Picts is supposed to
have been in their time. The Romans built a wall between Scotland and England
to keep them from raiding, because they couldn't really defeat them. Gillock, Scotland. It is
on a map at this link. http://www.multimap.com/
We have found no connection between the peoples with the Gilloch / Gillock surname and The Village Gillock.
They are virtually separated by almost the whole length of Scotland. One is in the Highlands and the other, the place we find records at is in the Lowlands.
Our Laurence Gillock's records and that of his family were found in Forteviot, Perth, Scotland. see below:
notice how the water is shaped in a "V" at the top? that is the area of Gillock, Scotland. See Edinburgh about 50 miles north is Forteviot, Perth Scotland.
How the village could be related to the surname I have no idea... But we keep hunting.. Nelda
