Eckard family has been eluding me and I am always trying to find the
missing link to this family. From census information I have come to
these conclusions so far.
My First Great Grandfather, Dillar Eckard, was born sometime after June in 1850. He was listed in the 1870 census as an apprentice saddler living with William Steel in Huntingdon, Pa. In the 1900 census he and wife, Catherine, were living in Logan township, Huntingdon county, Pa. Listed with them were 6 children and a grand-daughter. In the 1910 census there was a niece living with them named Lena Price.
I have visited the Huntingdon County Genealogy Society with no success in finding an obituary on either Dillar Eckard or my grand father Frank Eckard. I did find a marriage certificate of Frank Eckard to Alice Amelia Sneath at the Huntingdon county courthouse.
My father, Gerald Eckard, was born and raised in Petersburg, Pa. In the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Petersburg there are 3 Eckards buried there: William Eckard, Harry Eckard, and Lizzie J. Eckard. I have no idea if or how these 3 Eckards may be connected to me.
I will continue to research this family and hopefully put the pieces together soon.
