MARKEL, Annie Arndt, died recently at home in Nankin, born Lancaster Co PA 14 Jan 1834; eldest child of Andrew and Mary Arndt who came to Ashland Co with 3 children; Annie married Jacob J. Markel 18 Mar 1857, Mar 1852 Jacob J. left for gold at Pike's Peak and returned empty handed, family to Macon Co IL and lived there 8 years, 4 children born there, fall of 1867 when youngest was 6 weeks old headed south to New Orleans, shortly after headed back to Ashland Co. arriving in 1868, to Nankin 1 Apr 1872, youngest child born in Nankin, husband died when they were married 51 years, she died 5 Dec, 78y10m21d. 25 DECEMBER 1912 PARK, Cloyd Winfield, of S of Ashland on Jeromesville Rd., s/o Levi, died Samaritan Hospital Thursday, 26y6m, wife and 3 children survive, 2 or 3 brothers, buried Ashland cemetery.
