PRICE, William H., killed in Akron Thursday, 54y, funeral in Galion, brother of Mrs. W. A. Kerr, wife, 10 children and mother survive.

MASON, Parvin Lewis, s/o Isaac and Eunice, born 27 July 1845, died 27 Jan 1905, 59y6m, 1870 married May Breidenstein of Ft. Wayne IN, 1870 settled on farm near Ashland, 1892 to Ruggles, 1902 to Geauga Co., Feb. 1904 to Shelby, children: Lorena w/o M. D. Jacobs of Ashland, Dell of Dayton and Clifford of Shelby.

CASSEL, William E., lived abt 5 miles West of Lake Odessa (MI) for past year, died 5 Jan, buried Lakeside Cemetery, born Ashland Co. OH 19 Nov 1866, s/o Goerge, married 24 Aug 1886 Carrie Darby d/o Wallace, 3 daughters and 1 son (from Lake Odessa News - a long account of his life) (see previous article)

OLIVER, William Allen, of Nappa CA, an inmate of Soldier's home there, 81y, CW & Mexican War vet, unmarried, brother of Paul Oliver of Ashland received word Tuesday.

KOPP, Lester Clair, died 30 Jan, 2y4m, s/o Charles F. of Reedsburg, grandmother is Mrs. J. H. Kopp of Redhaw, a brother born 2 Jan. (see previous article)


15 FEBRUARY 1905


SHOEMAKER, Jessie Park, w/o F. B., died Monday at home on Orange & 4th, 24y4d, survivors include child 4 days old and son Carleton Earl age 7y, 1 daughter died previous, buried West Salem.

MOORE, Roderic Pearson, s/o Will of 3rd St., born 1 Oct 1904, died 10 Feb 1905, abt 19 wks old, buried Ashland Cemetery.

REED, Charlotte Forbes, widow of Asa Reed who died abt 10 yrs ago, died at home on Sandusky St. Tuesday, born and raised on same street near where she died, no children, 76y9m11d, step-granddaughter Mildred Reed, buried Ashland Cemetery.

LEACH, Mrs. Charles, died Monday, 36y, husband and 2 children survive, buried Ashland Cemetery.

RHOADES, Sarah Koons, born 18 Nov 1822 Germantown, Perry Co. PA, died 7 Feb at home of son, William Rhoades of near Ashland, 82y2m20d, married Samuel Rhoades 22 Jan 1847, he died 1 June 1890, children: Phillip, William, George, Mrs. Matilda Hayel, 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren.

SMALLEY, Orlo E., s/o Albert, formerly of near Redhaw, now of Central Hotel, Ashland, 18y, engaged to Miss Fahey of Superior St., Cleveland OH, had quarreled, he drank carbolic acid, brother of Ralph, Richard and L. H. of Ashland, buried Redhaw Cemetery.

FAST, George W., died at his home in Fenton MI 29 Jan, 59y, born Ruggles Twp., Ashland Co OH 2 Apr 1846, to MI 1867, married Lucinda Fulmer 28 July -- at Nova, she died 7 yrs ago, 3 children of which 2 daughters died young and one, Josephine, survives, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, buried Fenton Cemetery.


22 FEBRUARY 1905


JOHNSON, Mrs. Benjamin, formerly of Ashland, died Mansfield Sunday, 60y, went to Mansfield with husband in early 80's, Benjamin is twin brother of Daniel of Ashland, nee Frances Drake born Nashville, Holmes Co. OH, buried in Ashland Cemetery.

BEYMER, Arthur, died Tuesday, 79y.

SCHERFF, Mrs. Ludwic, died at home on 3rd St., husband and 2 children: Callie of Ashland and Fred of Jelloway.

FAGER, Peter, 87y, and Fanny G., 70y, brother and sister, wealthiest farmers of Wayne Co., died within a few hrs of each other of pneumonia, buried in one grave in Reedsburg, immense fortune to distant relatives in IL, few yrs ago 2 brothers died under similar conditions, also buried in one grave, same cemetery.

WOLFNER, Christian, born 28 Sept 1832 Weustadt Wurtenberg, Germany, died 72y4m17d, to US at age 18y, married Ludwig Scherff 23 Apr 1856 in Ashland OH, her husband, 2 daughters and 8 grandchildren survive.

GOULD, Mrs. Luther, died 16 Feb, 87y2m4d, nee Sarah Curry born Harrison Co. OH 12 Dec 1817, with parents to Sullivan 1830, married 2 May 1839, 7 children of which 5 died previously, her husband died 14 July 1890, daughters: Mrs. Lucretia Garver and Mrs. Polly Laughery survive, also 2 granddaughters, 2 great-grandchildren and sister, Mrs. Jane Barrack.

WRIGHT, John D., native of Aberdeenshire, Scotland, died at his home near Garden City MO 20 Dec 1904, 75y6m9d, to US 1849 settling in Ruggles, then to Ruggles Center, Savannah next, and 1872 to near Garden City MO, 1865 married Mrs. Elizabeth Souter Tough, 7 children of which 3 survive along with wife, four died previously.

HOCKENSMITH, Mrs. Asenath Baily, born Fulton Co. PA 26 Feb 1843, married Harvey Hockensmith 21 Apr 1861 and came to OH following Aug, 8 children- 3 daughters and 5 sons - 3 died previously, husband and children: John of Savannah, Agnes Snowberger of Orange and William, Alonzo and Earl of "this place", she died 24 Feb, 61y11m28d, buried Dickey Church.
