HIRAM BARNES

Hiram Barnes, son of James and Susanna Barnes, was born in Pennsylvania in 1801, and moved to Livingston County, N.Y., with his parents, in childhood.
His father died when he was young and he worked at teaming and odd jobs and lived with his mother and sisters and helped to support the family.
He married Lucy Randall and moved to Mustcash, Ohio, in about 1825 or 1830, and bought a farm adjoining his brother Ira Barnes' farm on the east and Sandusky bay on the north and engaged in farming.
He built a two-story hewed log house on the high rocky land overlooking the bay and built a cellar in the rock of the side hill.
It was a most beautiful place to look over the green fields of his farm to the bay shore and see the steam and sail boats going up and down the bay.
His wife, Lucy, died and he married Mrs. Mary Hartwell Prentice, his second wife, in about 1842.
Children of Hiram and Lucy (Randall) Barnes:
    Betsey Barnes Cady.
    Erastus Barnes.
    Reuben Barnes.
    Lucy Ann Barnes Murty.
    Loren Barnes.
    Mary Barnes Baker.
    Hiram Barnes, Jr.
    George Barnes.
