The following is from "Hartford City, W. Va. - 1853-1922" by Mildred Gibbs,
published about 1984:

Wolf Ginther, son of Frederick Ginther, lived in Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany.
He married Malinda Meininger, and they were the parents of six children:
John, William, Catherine, Margaret, Mary and Conrad. The mother, Malinda,
died in Germany in 1848. Wolf was a farmer, and kept the only hotel in the
town of Middle Grintau. He grew wealthy in business, but by misplaced
confidence in Jewish trades he lost the bulk of his possessions, and his
wife having died, he came to America with his children, excepting John, who
had been sent ahead. He settled in Cincinnati in 1852 and died at the home
of his son John in Pomeroy, Ohio, about 1857. John (1833-1915) first joined
his uncle in Cincinnati, but came to Pomeroy in 1855, where he continued his
foundry work. 

I'd like to add that Darmstadt is in the Wurttemberg area of Germany. There is a branch of the
 Ginthers which settled in Lancaster, Pennsylvania moved on to settle in Clay Twp., Tuscarawas, Ohio. 
In what I have found on this branch, they are said to have come from Wurttemberg. I can't help but 
feel that their is some connection between these two families, however remote. I am wondering if you 
have seen anything on this family. Here is what little I have on them:
