2016 Blue Family Reunion

Back to Romney!! 17th NBFA National Reunion – 11/12 June 2016 You asked for it – You’ve got it – On to Romney!!

Submitted by Sarah Bitter [], Oregon, OH

The 2016 NBFA National Reunion will return to its “birthplace” next June. Actually, our meetingplace will be at the home of Ephraim and Karen Herriott in the beautiful hills west of Springfield, justa few miles north of Romney. This was the location of the 2010 and 2012 Reunions.

Friday, June 10

The Reunion will be preceded by a no-host dinner at a Romney restaurant (possibly Mario’s or MainStreet Grill) on Friday evening, so that many of us can greet old friends and get to know those whomay be attending for their first time.

Saturday, June 11

On Saturday morning we will meet at the Herriott’s home, a few miles west of Springfield, for acontinental breakfast, followed by a short “business meeting”, and several talks on Blue family history. Information on historical sites in and around Romney will also be offered.

At about noon we will break for a no-host lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon there will be a group auto tour to historic locations, possibly including the John BlueBridge, John Blue’s House at the Rocks, Madeline Blue’s home on US 50E, old homes along the SouthBranch of the Potomac River, the bunkers at Fort Mill Ridge, Fox Hollow Run and Indian MoundCemetery. We will determine this once we know who will be attending.

At 6:00PM we will break for dinner. The details of this dinner are still being worked out. We have not yet determined if this will be catered at the Herriott’s home or if we will travel to a localrestaurant. We will contact all who have registered with the details as soon as they are known.

NBFA Vice President, Sarah Bitter, is working with the Herriotts on Reunion plans.

Sunday, June 12

On Sunday morning the NBFA Reunion will continue as we travel to the Jefferson County farm ofRichard F. Blue and his family for an old fashioned Blue family reunion. This segment is one you will not want to miss! The Blues and related families still living in the area gather together bringingwonderful homemade food for all to enjoy! Over the past years we have enjoyed a hayride throughthe fields of the Blue farm and a walk through the barns to view the dairy facilities. You really will treasure this gathering for years to come. The Blue farm is a 90 minute drive from Romney. Most of us will drive over on Sunday morning, planning to arrive at 10 to 10:30 AM.

So, mark this weekend on your calendar.
