The origin of the name Miranda is French. Famous persons: Marie-Francoise DuLignon dit LaMirande who married Jean-Baptiste Fleury in 1728 in Louiseville, Quebec. Jean-Baptiste Fleury was involved in fur trading. Marie-Francoise was the daughter of Elie Theodore DuLignon dit LaMirande and Marthe Pasquet.

John Hoppner painted a portrait of Frances Vane (1769-1821),  called 'MIRANDA' at the end of the 18th century.  Frances, considered one of the most beautiful women of her time, was the wife of Michael Angelo Taylor (1757-1834). Frances Vane, daughter of Sir Henry Vane, Reverend,  gained notoriety as the mistress to Frederick, Prince of Wales.  France Vane's husband, Michael Angelo Taylor was a Member of Parliament (MP) and Whig politician in the 1830s.  Michael Angelo Taylor was the only son of Sir Robert Taylor, a London architect. Both Michael and his father Sir Robert are buried at Saint Martin's in the Fields, Westminster, England. A mezzotint of the "Miranda" portrait was engraved by James Ward, and later printed in about the year 1900.
