Eli Patterson Taylor, b. 1829; Virginia, married 14 April 1897, at the age of 67, Elizabeth N. Perrin. b. 1 August 1854, age 42, in Grant County, Wisconsin. The marriage certificate No. 02019 lists Eli's parents as Vinson Tayler and Sarah Derm. Eli's occupation: Carpenter. Residence: Beetown, Birthplace: Virginia. Elizabeth Nancy Perrin is the daughter of Daniel Vanantweil Perrin and Mary Ann Jackson. . The marriage was contracted in Cassville, Grant County, Wisconsin. Witnesses: Mike and Annie Adrian. Justice of the Peace John A. Jannson, of Beetown, performed a short wedding ceremony.

Elizabeth N. Perrin, born, 1 August 1854, Waterloo, Wisconsin, was the third child of four born to Daniel Vanantweil Perrin, of Michigan, and Mary Ann Jackson, of New York. Her brothers, all born in Bloomington, Grant County, Wisconsin, were Edward R. Perrin, b. 14 March 1850; Charles A. Perrin, b. 8 Nov 1851, and George H. Perrin, b. 8 Oct 1858; d. 6 March 1860. Brother Charles A. Perrin, a farmer, married Elizabeth Wilson, of Illinois, 1 January 1872. The Federal census for Beetown, Grant County, Wisconsin, shows three sons were born to this couple by 1880: Edward Perrin, b. ca. 1873; Josiah Perrin, b. ca. 1875, and James Perrin, b. ca. 1878.

Eli Patterson Taylor, at age 21 worked as a Tobacconist at the farm of George W. Dyer, of Henry County, Virginia, and a prominent tobacco grower in Warren County, Missouri. George W. Dyer employed two other Tobacconists: John B. Shertya, b. 1827-VA and Willis J. Jones, b. 1829-VA. Ten years later in 1860 Eli P. Taylor is residing at the Campbranch residence of Willis Jones, Sr., b. 1808-VA, listing his occupation as a Carpenter. The Vincent Taylor affidavit filed in May 1865 states Eli is living in Wisconsin-but he is not enumerated in the 1870 Wisconsin census. In 1880 Eli P. Taylor appears in the Grant County, Wisconsin census residing at the residence of William G. Moody, Lead Miner, age 45. Eli's occupation: Lead Miner
