Asa Breckenridge Crowe
     
     Asa was the postmaster at Luther (originally
Luther was on Asa's grandfather's farm east of Beaufort but was
relocated at the present site of Nosier Mill) from 1896 to 1898 and at
Labaddie in 1904. He ran a General Store in Luther from 1895 to 1898
(worth $5,000), then opened one in Labaddie from 1898-1904 (worth
$5,000), and then in Sullivan from 1905 to 1923 (worth $35,000). He was
an officer with the Bank of Sullivan, a Mason from Sullivan and in 1916
owned two cars (there were only 627 in the County in 1916): a
Internation Harvester Co. (20 hp) and a Studebaker (36 hp).1      Asa Breckenridge Crowe, son of Captain John Thomas Crowe and Mary Minerva Breckenridge, was born on 30 August 1867 in Union, Franklin County, Missouri.1
     Asa married Mattie Fisher (?) on 3 September 1890 at Moselle, Franklin County, Missouri.1 Asa Breckenridge Crowe was a member of On March 7, 1903 Asa was elected a Companion of the Second Class,
Insignia #13906, of the MO Commandery of the Military Order of the Loyal
Legion of the United States of which he was a member of for 31 years
until his death. His father, Capt. John Thomas Crowe had been a member
for nearly 40 years until his death in 1923 as well as Asa's younger
brother Samuel Howard Crowe who joined in 1912. from 1903 to 1934.1
     Asa married Catherine Fitzgerald in 1911.1
     Asa died on 30 September 1934 at age 67.1 He was buried in October 1934 in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Sullivan, Franklin County, Missouri.1
