Mr. George W. Crum, familiarly known as "Wash" Crum, died in his home on Lanes Prairie after a painful illness borne in a spirit of Christian resignation. He was born near Vienna, MO., on June 22, 1864, and was a life long resident of the county. No man was bettor or more widely known that he; having served once as Co. Assessor.
Mr Crum at the age of 20 united with the Baptist church. He was also a member of the Masonic Order. In 1888 he married Miss Olive M. Harrison of Lanes Prairie, who with three sons and three daughters survive him. the sons are Joseph S., Ashley J. of Lanes Prairie; Columbus L. Prof. Of Vienna High School; Miss Agnes E. Teacher in public school at Pana, Ill., Miss Thelma and Mrs. Rainey Ricker of Boone Twp; and Miss Mary Olive also a school teacher in Montana. One daughter, Kitty, died in early childhood.
Mr. Crum had all the rare qualities of a good and great man; he was gentle, cheerful and considerate of all, but, kindness and humility were his chief traits. The latter virtue was often commented upon by his friends; and we all know that if there is one lesson in Christ it is that of humility. No wayfarer ever knocked at his door but was admitted; nor did he ever turn a deaf ear to any one in distress.
The end came peacefully on February 25th, 1928. At his beside were his faithful wife and their six devoted children.
The funeral services were conducted in the home and burial was in Bowels Chapel cemetery. As a Testimonial of high esteem in which he was held, a large crowd gathered to pay tribute to the memory of this good man. Long will "Wash" Crum live in the heart and memory of those who were fortunate enough to know him, the writer being one among them and whose sincere prayer is "Eternal rest grant to him, O, Lord, And let perpetual light shine upon him.

2 He was buried in February 1928 in Bowles Chapel Cemetery in Maries County, Missouri.2
