     Johan Peter was a shoemaker.2      Johan Peter Bopp, son of Johann Velten Bopp and Anna Catharina Muth, was born on 29 January 1812 in Groszherzogtum, Grebenhain, Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany.2,3
     Johan married Syarana Straub on 13 August 1833 at Germany.1,2
     Johan married Gertraud Lind on 9 May 1841 at Germany.2 Johan Peter Bopp and Gertraud Lind emigrated on 28 September 1852 from Grasbenhein, Grand Dukedom of Hessen-Darmstadt. Traveling with Johan were Andrew Bopp, Sebastian Bopp, Henry Bopp, Catherine Bopp, Valentine Bopp and Peter Bopp Jr.2,4
     Johan Peter Bopp and Gertraud Lind immigrated on 20 December 1852 to New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana. Arriving with Johan were Andrew Bopp, Sebastian Bopp, Henry Bopp, Catherine Bopp, Valentine Bopp and Peter Bopp Jr.2 Johan Peter Bopp and Gertraud Lind moved on 28 April 1853 from New Orleans to St. Louis County, Missouri. Moving with Johan were Andrew Bopp, Sebastian Bopp, Henry Bopp, Catherine Bopp, Valentine Bopp and Peter Bopp Jr. They left New Orleans because of the threat of a cholera epidemic.2
Between 1853 and 1865 Johan Peter Bopp farmed at Harwood and Gilbert Roads in St. Louis County, Missouri.2
     Johan married Gustina (?) on 18 November 1864 at Missouri.2 Johan Peter Bopp moved on 15 March 1865 from Des Peres, Misouri area to Kirkwood, St. Louis County, Missouri.2 In the cornerstone for the Lutheran Orphan's Home, Des Peres, St. Louis County, Missouri, laid in 1868, Johan Peter Bopp was named in the articles in the capsule as one of those who worked voluntarily without pay on the construction.5

     Johan died on 6 April 1901 in Missouri at age 89.1,2,3 He was buried in April 1901 in St. Lucas United Church of Christ Cemetery in Sappington, St. Louis County, Missouri.3
