St. Mary of Victories Church (St. Louis) is located at 744 South Third Street in St. Louis, Missouri.1
As early as 1839, Bishop Joseph Rosati saw the need for a parish - separate from the Old Cathedral where French was spoken - for the German speaking people in the rapidly growing South St. Louis.
Franz Saler, the architect of St. Mary's Church made its design in accordance with early 16th century architecture: the nave is rectangular and with the transept it forms a cross with the sanctuary at its head. A two tie balcony with the choir loft on the upper one is in the rear of the church.
In the years from 1847 to 1868, the work of building the church was completed. The transept and belfry were added in 1860.
In 1859 the first permanent parochial residence was built at 744 South Third Street and during the pastorate of Father Faerber (1868-1905) the school was built.
In 1957 the parish was transfered to the community of Hungarians belonging to the former St. Stephen of Hungary Parish, and the the new-comers who fled Hungary after the 1956 uprising.1

St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church (St. Louis) is located at Ninth and Park Avenues in St. Louis, Missouri.1
St. Vincent's was founded as the Church of the Most Holy Trinity in 1838, when bishop Joseph Rosati was given land by Antoine Soulard's widow. The bishop constructed 10 one-story houses called "Bishop's Row." The houses were to be rented and proceeds were to be spent on a diocesan seminary.
Bishop Peter Richard Kenrick laid the church's cornerstone on March 17, 1844 and a year later the $30,000 church was paid for and consecrated.
Most of the first parishioners were Germans. During the Civil War transient solders were married and buried at St. Vincent's.1
