     Formed in 1865. First known as St. Malachy's Mission, the congregation first worshipped together in 1839. Prio to 1869 it was visited by priest from the St. Louis Cathedral (Old) and afterwards from St. Peter's Church in Kirkwood. When the old church was torn down in 1893 its name was changed to St. Joseph. Irish originally predominated.

     In 1941 Mr. and Mrs. Woodson K. Woods circulated the petition, which was presented to the presbytery in December of 1942, requesting the establishment of a church in the Ladue area. The group first met at the chapel at Mary Insitute on Warson Road. The organization serve was held on November 7, 1943 and Ladue Chapel was officially launched. The congregation purchased the former home of U.S. Senator George H. Williams on four acres on Clayton Road in September, 1944. In October, 1948, the cornerstone for the new sanctuary was laid. The "Opening of the Doors" dedication ceremony was held on November 13, 1949 at 3:30 p.m.1

     The cornerstone was laid on the third Monday in May, 1860, by Vicar-General Joseph Melcher. Archbishop Kenrick dedicated the church on December 26, 1860 in honor of the apostle of Germany, St. Boniface. It was predominantly German. First German parish in Carondelet (Incorporated into St. Louis in 1870). Many of the parishioners worked at the iron works in Carondelet during the Civil War. The south 100 foot tower was completed in 1868, the north one in 1890. New tower cupolas were added in 1969.2

St. Stanislaus Catholic Church (Wardsville, MO)

     Prior to 1880, people in this area were members of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Taos, Mo. In October 1880, a meeting was held to discuss the formation of a new parish. On November 9, 1880, the St. Stanislaus Parish was established. On October 10, 1883, the new church building was blessed under the patronage of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The old log church was used as the school and rectory. On September 14, 1898, a new two-story school building was completed; and in 1905, a new room was added onto the school building. It was used as a classroom and a chapel during the winter. In 1992, the old church became inadequate to serve the needs of the parish. The cornerstone of the new church was blessed on June 17, 1923. During construction, Mass was held in the parish hall, constructed in 1920. The formal dedication of the new church was celebrated on Jun 28, 1925. On July 28, 1927, lightning struck the steeple, and the church went up in flames. In June 1929, reconstruction was completed. On October 26, 1958, a new school was dedicated. In 1978, an addition was added to the west side of the gym. The cost of the construction as well as the majority of the labor was provided by parish members. In 1991, The St. Stanislaus Church was renovated. In early 1997, there was an addition to the school. The majority of the labor necessary was furnished by the families of the parish and local businesses. The last addition to the school was completed in 2002.1

     St. Bridget of Erin Catholic Church (St. Louis) is located at 2401 Carr Street in St. Louis, Missouri.
     The parish was founded in 1853, predominately Irish. When constructed in 1860, it was the largest church in the city. It is located in the Yeatman neighborhood on the near northside near Kerry Patch. By the early 1930's school enrollment was declining, the early Irish had moved on, and the parishioners were of a variety of nationalities. Remains of early settlers were interred in the church basement.2

     Formed in 1766. First visited as a regular mission by Jesuit Father Sebastion Meurin by 1766. The first church was built in 1770 and became an official parish six years later. The cornerstone for the fourth and current stone church was laid in 1831.The last dismemberment of the Old Cathedral parish and the beginning of its decline occurred in 1859 when the Annunciation Church at Sixth and LaSalle Streets was organized.

     1855-1948. St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church was founded in 1855 by Father James Henry as a mission of St. Patrick's Church, predominately Irish. It was replaced by a later structure across the street at the southwest corner of 14th and O'Fallon Streets in 1865. It was sold by the archdiocese in 1948 and was used as a truck repair garage, only the first level remains. Closed parish - records now at the Archdiocesan Archives.1
