     Michael Friedrich Doerner was a member of Norris City United Presbyterian church, Norris City, White County, Illinois .1 He was employed by N.Y. Central Railroad as a carpenter in the bridge and building department.1      Michael Friedrich Doerner, son of Franz Doerner and Louise Westfellenger, was born on 15 March 1885 in Scott Township, Vanderburgh County, Indiana.1 He was baptized on 6 April 1885 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Darmstadt, Vanderburgh County, Indiana.1
     Michael married Rosa Roth on 16 July 1905 at White County, Illinois.1
     Michael died on 20 September 1966 at Eldorado Nursing Home in Illinois at age 81 at 11:35 pm.1 His obituary was published in the Carmi Newpaper on 20 September 1966. Mike Doerner, 81, a longtime resident of the Norris City community, passed away at 11:35 p.m.. Tuesday, September 20, in the Eldorado Nursing Home. Mrs. Doerner was a retired railroader, having worked many years as a carpenter with the bridge and building department of the Ne York Central.
Born March 15, 1885 in Vanderburgh County, Indiana, he was the son of Frank and Louise Westfellenger Doerner.
He was a member of the Norris City United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Etta; four sons, George, Carmi, Sylvester, Norris City, Frank, Chicago, and Aubrey, Hammond, Indiana; four daughters, Mrs. Louise Hasset, Harrisburg, Mrs. Juanita Davis, Palos Heights, Mrs. Audrey Schuller, chicago, and Mrs. Wilma Malay, Bradley; a brother, Frank, Jr., route 5 Carmi; five sisters, Mrs. Louise McGill, Carmi, Mrs. Lizzie Wilson, Enfield, Mrs. Kate Miller, Dundee, Oregon, Mrs. Martha Savage and Mrs. Clara Welch, both of Elgin; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Doerner were conducted at 2 p.m. from the United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Niles Stone officiating.1
     His funeral service was held on 23 September 1966 at United Presbyterian Church, Norris City, White County, Illinois.1 He was buried on 23 September 1966 in Mt. Olive Cemetery in White County, Illinois.1

Mike doerner, 81, a longtime resident of the Norris City community, passed away at 11:35 p.m.. Tuesday, September 20, in the Eldorado Nursing Home.           Rebecca Jane "Becky" Duffin, daughter of Willard J. "Butch" Duffin and Pauline Hawkins, was born in 1962 in St. Louis County, Missouri.1
     Rebecca Jane "Becky" Duffin attended high school at Vienna High School, Vienna, Maries County, Missouri, graduating circa 1980.1
     Rebecca Jane "Becky" Duffin received an undergraduate degree from Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, Greene County, Missouri, in 1986. She attended on an athletic scholarship.1
     In high school Becky excelled in basketball and softball. In 1978 her Khoury League team placed second in the softball association. Her father and sister, Butch and Phyllis Duffine were manager and coach respectively. In 1979 they placed first in the Khoury Tournament.
Her pitching career took off in her senior year of college, when she began pitching for the "Bears." She was second in the nation in strike-outs in Division I in 1985.
In 1983 the Vienna fast-pitch softball team ended its season with a record of 20-0. She was named All-American in 1985, 1987 and 1988. Becky was a member of the St. Louis Classics team. In seven years she accumulated a 153-24 records, averaging more than 13 strike-outs per seven innings. Her ERA was 0.22.
In 1987 Becky, 26 years old, made headlines as an All-Star Pitcher, when she pitched a 33-inning game lasting five hours in the American Softball Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska. In this gaem she struck out 62 batters, gave up no runs, tow hits and two walks. The score was 1-0.
In the summer of 1987 she pitched for a U.S.A. team in Taiwan and Tokyo, Japan.1 In circa 1988Becky Duffin purchased the Jones Softball School which she renamed "Duffin Softball" and had seen it grown to 400 students at the time of her death. It was located in Missouri.1
     Rebecca died on 19 December 1990 in Missouri of melanoma cancer.1
     Rebecca Jane "Becky" Duffin was she was inducted into the Southwest Missouri State University sports hall of fame circa 1991.
     Becky had a dream - to be a member of the "Brakettes," a Connecticut World Class team. A few weeks before her death the manager of the team spoke to her by phone about joining their team if an opening should occur. He got approval from his superiors and was wainting for Christmas to offer her a place on their however she died on December 19, 1990 before being infromed of the offer.1
     A large softball field called "Becky Duffin Field" was erected in memory of Rebecca Jane "Becky" Duffin at Vienna, Maries County, Missouri. It was erected by the Lions Club and community of Vienna.1
     Rebecca Jane "Becky" Duffin was inducted posthumous ly into the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame in Women's Fast And Slow Pitch. (www.softball.org/stlouis/Text/Administration/ 02hof/hof02.htm) in 2002.

     Jeffries married Charlotte Louise "Lottie" Finn, daughter of Coleman Finn and Nettie Ann Copeland, on 28 January 1933 at Potosi, Washington County, Missouri.1
     Jeffries Alia Duffin served from 1943 to 1946 in the U.S. Army, stationed at Jefferson Barracks, Affton, St. Louis County, Missouri.1
     Jeffries died on 24 May 2002 at age 91. His obituary was published in an unknown newspaper in May 2002.3 His obituary stated:
Jeffries Alia "Jeff" Duffin, 91, of Vienna, was born on January 9, 1911, at Vienna, a son of William John and Rebecca Ann Noblett Duncan, and died at 7:23 a.m., Friday morning, May 24, 2002 at his residence after passing away in his sleep.
Jeff was united in marriage on January 28, 1933, at Potosi, to the former Miss Lottie Louise Finn, and to the union, three children were born.
He was preceded in death by his wife on November 14, 1984; his infant son, Donald Duffin in 1948; his father on June 26, 1961; his mother on March 3, 1970; one brother, Willard John Duffin; and his sister, Mary Louise Chambers on March 10, 2002.
Jeff was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church, Coffey Brothers Memorial American Legion Post No. 12 in Vienna, and a United State Army Veteran of World War II. He was a former member of the Maries R-I School Board, serving as Treasurer and the Vienna Lions Club. For many years, Jeff was the manager of the Vienna Girls softball Summer League Team. He led his team in winning 100 consecutive games before a loss and to play in many state tournaments.
In addition to girls softball, Jeff enjoyed gardening, reading, Cardinal Baseball and attending his great-grandchildren's soccer games.
Jeff was employed by the Maries County Bank in 1954, being promoted to the position of Cashier in 1968 and serving in that position until 1992. At the time of his death, he was Chairman of the board of Maries County Bank and Chairman of the Board of Maries County Bancorp, Inc. Always faithful to his trust, Jeff worked daily in the bank until his death.
Survivors include: Two daughters and one son-in-law, Kay and Tom Eads of Vienna and Sue Hollis of Vienna; two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Kristy and Terry Helton of Vienna and Anita and John Makings of Marshall; six great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Trent, Traeton, Taner and Teegan Helton, and Duffin F. Makings; one brother and sister-in-law, Henry "Red" and Virginia Duffin of Vienna; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Willard E. "Decky" and Byrnece Finn of Vienna; nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
Fond and precious memories of Jeff will long be remembered in the hearts of his dear family and all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon, May 26, 2002, in the Vienna United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen Alden, pastor, officiating. The United Methodist Church Choir sang "In The Garden", "Amazing Grace" and "Shall We Gather At The River".
