Survivors include: one daughter, Pauline Bretthorst, St. Louis; one stepdaughter, Alice Rackers, Wardsville; one stepson, Bernard Mertens, Wardsville; one granddaughter, 54 step grandchildren, 143 step great-grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. The Rev. Michael A. Coleman will officiate. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at DUlle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

     Peter died on 25 November 1902 at Linn Creek Township in Missouri at age 72.10 He was buried in December 1902 in Our Lady of Help Catholic Cemetery in Frankenstein, Osage County, Missouri.6

She was listed as a 15-year-old single white female who was born in Missouri, as were her parents. She is able to read and write and has attended school within the year.1 Agnes M. Hentges was a sponsor for Alice Marie Mertens's confirmation on 20 April 1936 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville, Cole County, Missouri.5
     Agnes married George Joseph Mertens, son of Peter Paul Otto Mertens and Mary Bock, on 2 June 1936 at Missouri.2,3
     Agnes M. Hentges was listed in Marcia Ann Bisges's obituary circa 1989 as surviving.6 Agnes M. Hentges was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, the Ladies Sodality, The Over-50 Club, and the church quilting club. before 1999 at Wardsville, Cole County, Missouri.3 Her obituary stated:
Agnes Mertens, 84, Wardsville, died Nov. 8, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center. She was born Nov. 11, 1914, in Cole County, a daughter of George and Sophia Cortvrient Hentges. She was married June 2, 1936, in Jefferson City, to George Joseph Mertens Sr., who died Feb. 23, 1982. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, the Ladies Sodality, the Over-50 Club, and the church quilting club. Survivors include: four daughters, Shirley Hoelscher, Osage Bend, Sr. Margaret Mertens, San Benito, Texas, Helen Welch, St. Martins, and Anna Bisges, Wardsville; five sons, Charles Mertens, Watson, George Mertens Jr., St. Martins, and John Mertens, Fred Mertens and Kenneth Mertens, all of Wardsville; two sisters Celeste Laux and Margaret Vaughan, both of Jefferson City; one brother, Paul Hentges, Jefferson City; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Two granddaughters preceded her in death. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville. The Rev. Michael A. Coleman and Msgr. Bernard H. Boessen will officiate. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 4 p.m.

     Agnes is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.3
     Her wake was held on 9 November 1999 at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri.3
     Her funeral service was held on 10 November 1999 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Missouri, with the Rev. Michael A. Coleman and Msgr. Bernard H. Boessen officiating.3 She was buried on 10 November 1999 in St. Stanislaus Church Cemetery in Wardsville, Cole County, Missouri.2,3
