Frances "Franky" Eads, daughter of Benjamin Eads and Mary Hughes, was born on 28 May 1825 in Osage County, Missouri.2
Frances married James "Slim Ike" Crismon, son of Gilbert Oliver Crismon and Frances "Franky" Grady, on 22 September 1842 at Missouri.1,3,2,4
Frances "Franky" Eads was a beneficiary of the estate of Benjamin Eads from 1881 to 1883.5
Frances died on 3 April 1894 in Brinkland, Maries County, Missouri, at age 68.2,6 Her obituary was published in the Maries County Gazette on 20 April 1894.7 Her obituary stated:
Mrs. Frances Crismon, beloved wife of James Crismon, died at their residence on the Maries on the 2nd of April, 1894 . . . Their married life was spent in the immediate vicinity of where her death occurred. For 52 years they fought the battle of life hand in hand, and from almost a wilderness of 50 years ago, they have seen the dense forest of the Maries melt away before the woodman's axe, and the same has transformed from a wild and tangled jungle to almost a garden spot from its source in the Ozark range to where it blends its pure and limpid waters with that queen of western rivers, the beautiful Osage.
In 1872, Mrs. Crismon forsook the world and the allurements of a worldly life and gave her hand and heart to the cause of religion by uniting with the Missionary Baptists under the administration of Rev. J. T. Powers, a very devout and upright minister. She held her membership with the Baptists until a short time before her death, when she joined the Methodist Church, South. Her funeral was held by Rev. Harney at the residence of Mr. Crismon, in the presence of a large concourse of life-long friends and the surviving members of the stricken family. . .
From a sparsely settled community on the frontier, she lived to see a densely settled country - a prosperous thriving intelligent people. She was married to Mr. Crismon when scarcely 17 years old, he being not quite 18. The started out in life inexperienced and in poverty, but they well understood the problem before them; economy, industry, and punctuality was their motto, and when her sun went down on the second of April, 1894, they had gathered as the fruits of their years of toil, a competency sufficient to make the evening of their lives pleasant and to render to them in their declining years assurances against want or distress, and pointed to one of continued contentment and happiness.
She was a true type of frontier matron. Her hands were never idle while there was aught to do which would advance the welfare of those dependent upon her. We have all seen death in its varied forms - the young, the middle-aged, and the fathers and the mothers of our present civilization are all alike subject to its certain call. But after a life of toil and frugality, companions for so long a time who have builded for themselves a sure retreat in which they could enjoy the mellow light of the evening of a well-spent life, to be so suddenly separated is an agonizing, heartrending scene in the problem of our lives. Death is terrible at any time, but more especially when it lays its icy hands upon the aged father, whose locks have whitened in the flight of time, or enfolds in its cruel embrace the time-worn mother whose wearied form is bowed under the weight of many a garnered care. But such are the vicissitudes of life.
Mrs. Crismon has laid the cares of time aside and has launched her bark upon that jasper sea whose ivory billows are forever breaking upon the golden shores of the promised land. For a quarter of a century Mrs. Crismon was a member of the church and a dutiful christian, and inculcated by precept and example, honesty, sobriety and piety. Prodigality, indolence and extravagance were obsolete terms in the history of her life.
She was ever up and doing, still achieving, still pursuing; but at last she has left behind her the trials and tribulations ever attendant upon the voyager of life's stormy main. With a steady helm and full bent sail, and that christian chorus on her dying lips, she could well shout, "farewell, vain world, I'm going home."
She will drop her anchor in that peaceful haven where the weary are at rest and the wicked cease from troubling

7 She was buried in Jim Crismon Family Cemetery in Maries County, Missouri.2,8

Benjamin died on 11 August 1939 in Missouri at age 89 at the home of his son Landon F. Eads.11 Conflicting evidence placed his death on August 15, 1939 (Eads World Connect web site).2 His obituary was published in August 1939.10 His obituary stated:
Ben S. Eads Dies at 89 Years
Had spent Most of His Life on Farm where he was born.
Benjamin Simpson Eads was born on the old Eads Farm west by South 4 1/2 miles from Vienna, in what was then Osage County on Wednesday January 23, 1850 and died in Jefferson City, on Friday, August 11, 1939 aged 89 years 6 months and 18 days.
He spent his entire life until 1929 upon part of the farm acquired by his father, who came here in 1840. Since he left the farm he lived in Union with his son Landon F. Eads until they moved to Jefferson City about 1 1/2 years ago.
Having a wonderful vitality he was fortunate in the matter of health during life, never being bedfast until a week before his death. Only a short time since he had the highest hopes of living to celebrate his centennial.
He was the third child of Benjamin Eads (1807-1880) and Mahala Taff (1816-1876) and the only brother of Lorenzo Dow Eads (1846-1911), Mrs. Myra A. Crismon (1848-1921), Mrs. Amanda Graham (1854-1917), Mrs. Jennie Hawkings (1856-1907) and Mrs. Louisa Tackett (1859-1896). He was a half brother of the following: Frances Crismon (Mrs. James Crismon) (1825-1894) Louis Eads (1827-1902), Perry Eads (1829-1852, George W. (Wash) Eads (1831-1914), Caroline Coffey (Mrs. Campbell Coffey) (1833-1900) and William Eads (1835-1871).
Few have seen more generations of people than he. At the time of his death he had a least one great, great, great grand nephew. He was brother to a great grandmother of a grandfather. With his memories of generations further back - then this man must have personally known eight generations in line.
He was united in marriage to Sarah A. Meltabarger April 18, 1886. His wife preceded him in death 12 years. they had 6 children but only 4 survive: Landon of Jefferson City, Mrs. Martha Weirich of Gerald, Hoke of Vienna and Herbert of Meta. He also leaves 4 grandchildren all of Meta.
"Uncle Ben" was an 'old timer' an honorable representative of those that grew up shortly before or during the Civil War Period. A man of few words, never made hasty decisions, was not puffed up. Being strong in his convictions he seriously minded his own business and expected the other fellow to do likewise. He was a philosopher of Economy something more often deserving emulation. Absolutely honest in his dealings, he had not an ear that harkened to the tongue of slander or falsehood. In a word a good citizen, neighbor and friend.
He was the last of a long line of relatives, friends, and acquaintances of about the same age. Dow Eads, W.S. (Boler) Eads, James O'Brien and Henry Bodendick have been gathered to their father. Of the old neighbors there remains living but two. "Uncle" Tom Fennessey, and Henry Buschman, Although many years his junior. All the rest have sailed away to an eternal exile from the things of this life.
Uncle was a patient man and loved home and quietude, fully appreciating the value of contentment. He n'er had changed nor wished to change his place. In his plain way he understood that Fame is but an echo, a dream, nay, the shadow of a dream which a breath disperses and dissolves.
Although never united with a church he had a deep reverence for and an abiding faith in Him who alike giveth and taketh away and we feel sure that if the good of all ages are permitted to assemble together in the world beyond the grave - where tears, worries, heartaches and the disappointments of earth will in no wise enter, then he will be welcome into their midst.

10 He was buried in Lambeth Cemetery in Maries County, Missouri.2
