          Minnie May Graham, daughter of Samuel Robert Graham and Ellen Fredonia Savage, was born on 11 February 1886 in Houston, Harris County, Texas.1
     About her mother, her daughter Ernestine Dupre Hoch states: Mom loved the Cardinals. She would take the trolley down to see them. One time while she was living in Arkansas, she was bit on the ankle by a rattlesnake.
After her third husband, Mr. Dupre died, her son Glenn got a job in St Louis as a gardener, working with his father Charles. The rest of the family moved to St Louis with him.
Her great granddaughter, Peggy Hurt Fujimura, remembers the canaries Grandma Shelton kept. She also would give each of her great grandchildren a dollar on his or her birthday, which was a heady sum in the 50's.1

Funeral services will be conducted from the family residence tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. J. W. Boyer of the First Presbyterian church. Burial will be in the Oak Grove cemetery.

          Jack Thorton Lancaster, son of Earl Douglas Lancaster and Evelyn Isa Thornton, was born in 1923.1
     Jack Thorton Lancaster served between 1943 and 1944 in the U. S. Army Air Corp He was a Second Liertenant assigned to the 333rd Bomber Squadron, 94th Bomber Group, Heavy, 8th Air Force, stationed at Rougham, Bury St. Edmunds, England.2
     The 94th Bombardment Group consisted of the 331st, 332nd, 333rd, and 410th Bomb Squadrons. It was formed June 1942, based briefly at Earls Colne then moved to Bury St Edmunds, Rougham, UK. The group flew B17 bombers on many missions over Germany during the Second World War. Jack was a second Lieutenant and was shot down on a mission over France. He earned the Air Medal and Purple Heart. His service number was 828197. He practiced the Protestant religiion.3
     Jack died on 7 October 1944 in Germany. He was shot down while on a mission over Germany in a B-17G piloted by George W. Davies.4,5,2
     The aircraft was a B-17-g with a crew of ten, six died, four were captured. Second Lieutenant Jack T. Lancaster was the tail gunner and was probably killed during the initial attack.
In clear weather with unlimited visibility, at approximately 12:40 hours (at 56 deg 55 min, 11 deg 55 min), 12 minutes before the briefed I. P. was reached, enemy aircraft made sudden attacks on the group of which this aircraft was a member. The squadron in which this aircraft was flying bore the brunt of the attacks. About 50 to 60 S/S and T/S enemy aircraft were involved in the attack. They were mostly FO ????? although a few ME 209 s and ME 210 s were observed. They attack was continued for about 30 minutes. When the aircraft went down 3 or 4 chutes were observed.
According to Jack's portion of the report their position was approximately 50 mils N.W. of Leipzig, Germany when they were attacked by30-40 enemy fighters. The plane was riddled with 20 m.m. shells and was on fire immediately. A few members were able to parachute from the plane and became prisoner of war but the plane exploded before everyone could get out.
The location was also noted as Billroda, 33 kilometers south east of Sangerhausen (?). The aircraft was listed as 98% destroyed.
The dead crew was initially buried in the community cemetery at Tauhardt on October 11, 1944.
His next of kin was noted as Mrs. Evelyn Lancaster (mother), Webster Groves, Missouri.4 He was buried in Ardennes American Cemetery in Neupre, Belgium.2,3
