      Colonel Nathan Boone was also known as Nathen.3      Colonel Nathan Boone, son of Daniel Boone and Rebecca Bryan, was born on 2 March 1781 in Boone's Station, Fayette County, Kentucky.3
     Nathan married Olive Van Bibber, daughter of Peter Van Bibber and Mary Bounds, on 26 September 1799 at Kentucky.3
     In 1808, Nathan was a scout for William Clark on an expedition along the Missouri river from St. Charles. to establish Fort Osage as a trading post to do business with the Osage Indians. The treaty was signed on September 14, 1808. The post was located near the town of Sibley, Missouri.4
     Colonel Nathan Boone served on 25 March 1812 in the Missouri Rangers. He held the rank of Captain.5,6 He was promoted to Major on 10 December 1813.5
     Colonel Nathan Boone was released from active military duty in June 1815.5
     Colonel Nathan Boone served on 16 June 1832 in the mounted rangers with the rank of Captain.5
     Colonel Nathan Boone served on 15 August 1833 in the 1st dragoons with the rank of Captian.5
     On June 7, 1835 a detachment of the 1st Regiment, U. S. Dragoons left their winter quarters at the head of the lower rapids of the Mississippi under orders to show themselves to the Sioux Indians in the region west of Lake Pepin. Nathan was a Captain and led one of the three companies. Captain Boone was on detached service and his company was prepared by Lieutenant Lea but he took command on the march and was noted as being especially valuable for his knowledge of woodcraft, and as guide-.7 Albert Miller Lea's description said "His captian was sent off, nominally to buy horses, but really to let him have the command to fit the company for the march. This done, Nathan Boone, the youngest son of Daniel Boone, a very worth citizen, easy-going and ignorant of discipline was given leave to go home, and the narrator was set to fit up that company also.8
     Colonel Nathan Boone served from 16 February 1847 to 25 July 1850 in the U. S. Army as a major.5 He lived in 1848 at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas Territory.9 Olive and Colonel Nathan Boone lived in 1850 at Boone Township in Greene County, Missouri, he built a four-room home in 1837 and retired there in 1853. He anchored the wide plank florring with wood pegs and built the chimney of native stone.10,11
     Colonel Nathan Boone served between 25 July 1850 and 15 July 1853 in the 2nd dragoons in the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.5
     Nathan is a head of household on the 1850 U. S. Census for Boone Township, Missouri. He was identified as a 69-year-old male born in Kentucky, he owned real-estate valued at$3,700.00. Enumerated with him was his wife, Olive.10 Colonel Nathan Boone resigned from the U. S. Army on 15 July 1853.5
     Nathan died on 16 October 1856 in Greene County, Missouri, at age 75.3 Conflicting evidence placed his death on January 12, 1857 (U. S. Army Historical Register).5
