He had been sick for four days and early last week there was nothing to indicate that the end was drawing near.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family residence, thence to the Pleasant Ridge church. Rev. Hutte will conduct the services. Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge.
Mr. Horstmann was a native of Germany and was born on December 20, 1848, being 75 years, 6 months and 16 days old at the time of his death. He came to this country when quite young and had lived in the Pleasant Ridge community for fifty-two years.
He spent his entire life as a farmer, his home being but a short distance from the Pleasant Ridge church.
He is survived by a widow, a son and seven daughters. The son is Oscar Horstmann of Pleasant Ridge. The daughters are: Mrs. Theodore Kosten of Peters; Mrs. Herman Hecht, Mrs. Henry Raubach, Mrs Edward Koelling, mrs. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family residence, thence to the Pleasant Ridge church. Rev. Hutte will conduct the services. Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge.
Mr. Horstmann was a native of Germany and was born on December 20, 1848, being 75 years, 6 months and 16 days old at the time of his death. He came to this country when quite young and had lived in the Pleasant Ridge community for fifty-two years.
He spent his entire life as a farmer, his home being but a short distance from the Pleasant Ridge church.
He is survived by a widow, a son and seven daughters. The son is Oscar Horstmann of Pleasant Ridge. The daughters are: Mrs. Theodore Kosten of Peters; Mrs. Herman Hecht, Mrs. Henry Raubach, Mrs Edward Koelling, mrs. William Poos, Jr., Mrs. Robert Standte and Mrs. Emil Hartmann of St. Louis. there are seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

His funeral service was held on July 7, 1924 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Illinois. He was buried on July 9, 1924 in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Pleasant Ridge, Madison County, Illinois.1
