Will of John Blanton
of Hendricks County, Indiana

 

I, JOHN BLANTON, of the County of Hendricks and State of Indiana, do make and publish this my last will and testiment hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. First, I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my Deceased as possible out of the first moneys that shall come to the hands of my Executors from any portion of my and to effectuate this my estate in as full and ample a manner, in every respect, as I could myself if living. I also direct that all my personal property, so far as it fits my horses and household property, shall be sold by my Executor on such times and terms as he the said Executor thinks best and the money rising from such sales together with all other money’s belonging to my estate shall be disposed of as herinafter diricte (sic). After all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid, I want divided the balance of my estate divided amongst my several children as follows, to wit: First, I direct that Belinda SUMNER, late Belinda Blanton shall have three hundred dollars out of any money rising from my estate. I want divided equally with the exception of one dollar that I gave and bequeath to my son, Thomas BLANTON it being his share. I also direct that the balance of my estate be divided equally between my several children and their heirs as follows, to wit: William BLANTON, Catherine Murphy and her heirs, Margaret Thomas late Margaret BLANTON and her heirs, Mary Alison (sic "Ellison", it is spelled this way later in documents) late Mary BLANTON and her heirs, Jane Moss, late Jane BLANTON and her heirs, Belinda Sumner late Belinda BLANTON and her heirs and her heirs such of my several children as shall survive me except Thomas BLANTON, he receives one dollar only. And I hereby make and ordain my friend Charles REYNOLDS Executor of this my last will and testament. In witness where of I, John BLANTON, the testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this tenth day of October in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty four.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named John BLANTON as his last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses therin the presence of the said testator and in the presence of each other.
