bond to John GRESLEY about Game


Be it remembred (sic) that on the seventh Day of February in the thirty third year of the Reign of our Lord George the second of great Britain France & Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth. We Joseph NORTON & Thomas BAXTER of Caldwell in the County of Derby do acknowledge ourselves to owe John GRESLEY of Wirksworth in the County of Derby Esquire Eighty Pounds viz the said Joseph NORTON Forty Pounds and the said Thomas BAXTER Forty Pounds of good & lawful Money of great Britain to be respectively made & levied of our several Goods and Chattles Lands & Tenements to the Use of the said John GRESLEY and his Heirs &c: if We the said Joseph NORTON and Thomas BAXTER shall be guilty of the unwritten Offences.

The Conditions of this Obligation are such that if the above bounden Joseph NORTON and Thomas BAXTER shall either of them be convicted of Destroying the Wood or Underwood at any Time growing on the Lands belonging to the said John GRESLEY or shall either of them be convicted of destroying the Game within the Lordship of Netherseale in the County of Leicester then this Bond shall remain in its full force or else be void and of none effect.
